From the success and feedback from the engine on Thingiverse, I decided to continue modeling the complex mechanical components found in automobiles.  

Logically the next component to produce would be the transmission.  All parts were reversed engineered in the same way as the engine and the 3D files and instruction documents were uploaded to Thingiverse to share.  The final product was a fully functioning 5 speed transmission with reverse that mated to my original 3D printed engine.

After printing and assembling this transmission, a person should be familiar with the assembly and operation of a manual transmission.
