Project Scope: Redesign current beadlock ring to reduce waste, reduce machining time, and transition to in-house manufacturing. The current design required an 18"x18" piece of 3/8" aluminum sheet, which most of was wasted.
Design: Final design consisted of 6 identical "Sectional Beadlocks" that interlocked with each other. The sections were thicker than the current design to compensate for the integrity lost from the one piece design.
From designing the first concepts in solidworks to working with manufacturing to reduce machining time, I saw this project from start to finish. The final product reduced material waste significantly and the ability to manufacture in house eliminated any past issues with supplier lead times.
The final product has been tested in the most extreme conditions with no failures as of yet.
